Warsaw Schools Seek Businesses To Display Internet Access Logo
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools is launching a new business partnership program to help students who don’t have high-speed Internet access in their homes.
The school system is asking businesses to join with them by displaying the Tiger Tech image (at right) in their business front window. Students who see this image will know that it is a friendly, safe place for them to use the Internet to complete their homework, according to a news release from the school system.
Businesses interested in participating should contact WCS Chief Technology Officer Brad Hagg via email at [email protected] or by telephone at |(574) 371-5093, extension 2442.
The move “is another strategy we’re using to help students who don’t have access at home,” Hagg said. “We believe that 10-15% of our students do not have access to reliable high-speed Internet access in their homes.
The situation is a big issue in rural areas where Internet access is limited to line of sight wireless providers and satellite providers who can charge $50 and up per month for access, often with bandwidth limits in place, Hagg said.
