Grace Volleyball Adds Several Honors To Collection
WINONA LAKE – Six members of Grace’s volleyball team were honored in the postseason Crossroads League honors.
Alexa Hill repeated as a First Team All-League representative, and Makaela Lochmueller and Gina Novotny were Second Team honorees.
Makayla Bell and Gabbey Harrington were honorable mention for All-CL, and Jadyn Block was named to the seven-player All-Freshman Team.
Hill passed out 10.4 assists per set in her final season as Grace’s setter. She added a career-high 72 kills on a .233 percentage to go along with 2.7 digs per set.
Hill wrapped up her career with 4,537 career assists, second-most in team history, and 1,361 career digs. She was a First Team All-League honoree as a sophomore, junior and senior to end her volleyball career.
Lochmueller led the Lady Lancers in kills (287) and attack percentage (.248) this season. The middle hitter also paced Grace in blocks with 16 solo blocks and 70 block assists.
Novotny eclipsed 1,500 career digs this season. She produced 595 digs (4.5 per set) while also serving up a career-best 26 aces. Novotny set a career high in serve receive as well, completing 95 percent of her attempts.
Bell and Harrington stepped into larger attacking roles this year due to a plethora of injuries for Grace. Harrington produced 210 kills (2.1 per set) on a .196 percentage, and Bell had 146 kills (1.3/set) on a .193 percentage. Bell also produced 0.54 blocks per set, second-highest on the team.
Block was an integral member of Grace’s rotation as the year progressed. The freshman tallied 114 kills and 80 digs with the majority coming in Crossroads League play. She averaged 1.8 kills per set against league teams while hitting at a .163 percentage.
The Lady Lancers won 17 matches this year, reaching the semifinals of the CL Tournament for the fourth time in five years.
