Shoup-Hill Powers Way To POW Award
GOSHEN – After torching both Bremen and Tippecanoe Valley in the Valley Holiday Shoot-out, Goshen’s Brynn Shoup-Hill was given reason to celebrate in being named the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association District 1 Player of the Week.
Shoup-Hill was also honored with Gus Etchison of Hamilton Heights, Lake Central’s Nick Anderson, Silver Creek’s Trey Kaufman, Roncalli’s Alana Vinson and Bloomfield’s Kylee Shelton.
In the two-game round robin at Valley, Shoup-Hill recorded totals 49 points (31 against Valley), 24 rebounds and 10 blocks as the RedHawks split against Valley and Bremen. Earlier in the week against Columbia City, she posted 15 points, 11 rebounds, seven blocks and two assists in a win against the Eagles.
The junior standout for the RedHawks, who is getting Division 1 attention from around the country, has averaged 17.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game while Goshen has started 7-1 this season.
Other nominees from the area for this week included Tippecanoe Valley’s Sidney Wagner, Bremen’s Erin Coffel, Westview’s Charlie Yoder and Culver Academy’s Trey Galloway.
