Tigers Buck Trend, Top Chargers
FORT WAYNE – For the first time in five years, the visitors won.
Warsaw snapped a four-game home-team winning streak in the series by defeating the host Fort Wayne Carroll Chargers, 56-54, Wednesday night in girls buckets.
The Tigers, which now leads the all-time series with Carroll 11-10, won its second straight in a five-game road trip that will consume the rest of Warsaw’s December schedule. At the Carroll Fieldhouse, Brielle Harrison led the Tigers with 17 points, converting nine of those from the free throw line. Kacilyn Krebs hit three treys and finished with 15 points.
Warsaw scored 34 of its 56 points in the second half.
Carroll built a 20-8 halftime advantage and finished off the JV contest in a 33-21 win over the Tigers. Zoe Bergan scored nine points to lead the visitors.
Warsaw (6-5) jumps back into Northern Lakes Conference play Saturday night when it visits Plymouth.
