Warsaw Man Arrested In Battering, Strangling Pregnant Woman
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly battering and strangling a pregnant woman.
Ezekiel Dewayne Fitzpatrick, 25, 316 S. Lake St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 28, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the officer met with a woman who said she and Fitzpatrick were in a verbal argument.
According to court documents, the woman said she left the residence to get away from Fitzpatrick. However, Fitzpatrick followed her outside and struck her mouth with an open hand. Fitzpatrick then allegedly placed his arm on her neck and attempted to bring her back into the residence.
The officer saw a cut in the woman’s mouth and red marks on the woman’s neck. The woman also told the officer she is pregnant and that Fitzpatrick is aware she is pregnant.
A neighbor also witnessed Fitzpatrick using his arm to restrict the woman’s breathing.
Fitzpatrick was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 9, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
