Two Dead After Marshall County Vehicle Accident
MARSHALL COUNTY — Indiana State Police Troopers in Marshall County responded to a crash on Monday, Dec. 16, between a semi and a passenger car at US 6 and Miami Trail, which claimed two lives.
At 11:19 a.m., Marshall County Dispatch received a report of a crash between a semi and a passenger car near the intersection of US 6 and Miami Trail.
Trooper Dave Caswell arrived and found a white 2008 Volvo semi stopped just west of the intersection with a maroon passenger car trapped under the trailer of the semi, with two people entrapped.
Preliminary investigation by Caswell shows that the maroon passenger car was traveling south on Miami Trail and failed to stop at the stop sign at US 6. The passenger car continued south, running under the trailer of the Volvo that was traveling west on US 6. The driver of the semi, Valery Ryshkevich, 36, stopped the Volvo approximately 300 feet west of the intersection following the crash. Ryshkevich was not injured in the crash.
The male driver and female passenger in the maroon passenger car were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased will be released by Marshall County Coroner John Grolich pending family notification.
This is an ongoing investigation. US 6 was shut down between IN 106 and Miami Trail for the crash investigation and is now open.
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Bremen Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Lutheran EMS, Bremen Fire Department, INDOT and Reichert-Knepp Wrecker Service.
