Rochester Man Facing Multiple Charges After Brief Police Pursuit
ROCHESTER — A Rochester man was recently arrested after leading law enforcement officers in a 12-minute pursuit.
Brandon King, 36, Rochester, is charged with resisting law enforcement by using a vehicle, a level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement on foot, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a class C misdemeanor. He was also booked on several warrants, including two Marshall County warrants for burglary and failure to appear; and a Fulton County warrant for possession of marijuana.
At 11:10 p.m. Dec. 26, Indiana State Police Trooper Derek Rine was patrolling in Fulton County when he saw a white 2011 Jeep Patriot driving north on CR 850W at a high rate of speed.
The trooper saw the Jeep turn onto CR 600N without coming to a stop at the stop sign and attempted a traffic stop, but the Jeep failed to stop. The Jeep continued traveling on several roads, through some residential yards and ran several stop signs in a12-minutes that ended near Virginia Street and Old SR 17.
King then fled on foot through a wooded area but taken into custody by officers within two minutes. King was taken to the Fulton County Jail on multiple charges.
Rine was assisted by deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and ISP Trooper Andrew Baldwin.
