New And Returning Programs At Syracuse Library
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library announced new and returning programs for the new year.
An Oxbow County Park Pass is available to check out from the Syracuse Public Library in 2020. Go fishing, hiking on dog-friendly trails, picnic by the river or play disc golf for some nearby fun. This winter sled or cross-country ski, said a news release from Syracuse Public Library.
Scrabble Sunday for adults is a new social venture on Jan. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Future game dates are Feb. 9 and Mar. 15.
Homeschoolers are meeting on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. for one-hour, weekly programs starting Jan. 10. Each month the history, culture, foods and crafts of a country will be explored. January’s country will be China.
Food from Fiction is meeting an hour earlier in the new year, the first on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 12 p.m. Members are reading “Farmer Boy” by Laura Ingalls Wilder and sharing food ideas from the book. Chautauqua book clubs are having a second discussion, this time about happiness. See videos and talk about “The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness In A World Of Change” on Friday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
The new year brings the first week of returning programs. The McGee’s Decluttering group welcomes new people when they meet at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Managing clutter is a process with different plans for different problems. Chair yoga starts the new year with a gentle, core-body exercise program on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 9:15 a.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10:15 a.m.
Preschoolers and toddlers storytimes are up and going in January, Jan. 6 and 8 at 10:30 a.m. are the first two opportunities for stories, games and songs in the new year.
