Atwood Man Arrested For Domestic Battery
ATWOOD — An Atwood man was arrested after allegedly committing domestic battery while in the presence of two children.
Christopher Ryan Bartz, 41, 221 S. Wray St., Atwood, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 22, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in regards to a domestic battery complaint. The officer spoke with a woman who said when she arrived at the residence, Bartz told her she was not allowed in the house and that he would forcibly remove her if she tried to come in. A child was with the woman.
According to court documents, Bartz lunged at the woman, which caused their heads to collide. Bartz attempted to push the woman and then grabbed the child in an angry manner. The woman recorded the incident on her phone and said Bartz also made marks on himself in an attempt to say they were made by her.
The officer then spoke with Bartz. During this time, Bartz lifted his shirt and told the officer the red marks were from the woman scratching him.
The woman played her phone recording of the incident for the officer. The officer heard Bartz yelling at the woman and child. Another child was also present inside the home.
Bartz has an initial hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 9, in Kosciusko County Superior 3 Court.
