Dulcimer Lessons And Mixed Media Workshops Offered at North Webster Library
NORTH WEBSTER — Got the after-holidays letdown? Learn to play the dulcimer, create an art piece, dance for fitness or relax with an old movie at North Webster Community Public Library.
Registrations are currently being accepted for a Mixed Media Workshop, 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20. Artist Golden Seaton will show you how to create a wintry birdhouse collage using watercolor and bits of repurposed paper. The cost is $15 and includes all art supplies. Pre-registration with non-refundable payment is required at the circulation desk. The workshop is for adults only, said a news release from North Webster Community Public Library.
Leila Dailey will be giving group dulcimer lessons 5:30 p.m. the first three Tuesdays of each month starting Jan. 14 and running through April 7. The lessons are free, but students must have their own dulcimers and music stands. Instructional books will be available for purchase at the first lesson. Sign up at the circulation desk and learn to play this traditional folk instrument. The lessons are for adults only.
Dance off those holiday pounds at Let’s Move 6 p.m. every Thursday as participants have fun dancing to a variety of dance videos as a form of exercise. The class is free and open to adults of all ages and fitness levels.
Catch a free movie matinee 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, and laugh to a 1963 comedy sequel about an absent-minded professor who improves his high bouncing substance to create a new gravity-busting invention. The movie is rated G with free popcorn included.
With school back in session, Crafts and Stories continues in the Youth Department 4 p.m. every Tuesday when kids, ages five to fifth grade, can make a craft while listening to stories.
Therapy dog Mindy returns after the holidays to resume her reading sessions with children 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday. Children can sign up for a private 15-minute session to read to this canine pal.
Kids, ages 5 to 12, who like to build with Legos are invited to Lego Time 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, with Legos provided. Children under 9 years old should be accompanied by an adult.
