Truex Announces Bid For Re-election
WARSAW — Joni Truex, Kosciusko County Council at-large representative, has announced her bid for reelection. Truex is finishing her first term and is honored to serve the taxpayers and residents of Kosciusko County.
During this time, she has served on the emergency management advisory committee, redevelopment commission, abatement committee; non-profit committee and the wheel tax committee. Kosciusko County Council appointments for the current year include redevelopment commission (vice president); wage committee; Warsaw Community Development Committee; and emergency management advisory committee.
Truex stated “If I am fortunate enough to be re-elected to serve, I will spend the time, energy and effort necessary to represent the Kosciusko County taxpayers and community in a professional manner. I would appreciate your consideration and vote to reelect me to serve on the Kosciusko County Council as an at-large candidate.” Truex also serves on the Kosciusko Economic Development Infrastructure committee and the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce public policy committee. She is a graduate of Kosciusko Leadership Academy and served as publicity chair for several years.
With experience in a variety of industries including government, business, agriculture, manufacturing, education, and the not for profit sector, Truex has developed knowledge, skill and experience in accounting, budgeting, human resources, payroll, employee benefits, business management and entrepreneurship. Additional experience includes group medical insurance, workers compensation, affirmative action plans, 401(K) profit-sharing plan, flexible spending accounts and company human resource audits. Earning her MBA with a triple major of management, human resources and marketing she currently instructs at Ivy Tech. Truex has also taught at Indiana Tech and the SHRM certification courses.
Truex is married to Dale, has two grown children, four granddaughters and two grandsons. They enjoy spending time with all of them, whether in Warsaw or Alabama. Joni serves on the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts Board of Directors and serves as chairman for the special events committee. A member of Kiwanis for many years, she is completing her term as club president. Hobbies include reading, especially inspirational fiction, watching sports, travel and music.
Kosciusko County Council is responsible for the approval and adjustments of the operating budgets for all county offices and agencies. Wages and compensation for all county officials and employees are approved by the council. The council is also responsible for raising the funds needed to meet these expenditures through fixing tax rates and establishing levies on all county property, plus additional responsibilities.
