Color Guard Competition At WCHS Feb. 15
WARSAW — Warsaw will host state Color Guard competition on Saturday, Feb. 15.
In a competition of skill, choreography and visual thrills set to music, Twenty-six area color guard units will be traveling to Warsaw high school to perform.
IHSCGA showcases the talents of students competing in winter guard.
Winter guard is practiced and performed in a gymnasium and has become a combination of dance, cheerleading, and equipment maneuvers all in one. Guards utilize music, props, tarps and equipment, along with creative uniforms and makeup to convey a theme for their show. Routines are between 4 – 7 minutes in length, bringing spectators to the edge of their bleacher seats with each toss of the flag and synchronized movement of the unit.
Winter guard combines athletic skills with a musical and dramatic performance. Guards compete in different levels: Cadet, Festival, Regional A, A, Open or World Class. Color guard units may compete with 5-40 participants regulated by class levels. Groups are judged on equipment, movement, design and general effect.
The first performance begins at noon, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Admission cost is $7 per person, $3 per child age 5 or younger and free admission for infants (in lap). Tickets will be sold at the PAC entrance in the ticket booth. Warsaw Band Boosters will be selling concessions.
