Warsaw Woman Faces Domestic Battery Charges
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman faces domestic battery charges following an alleged incident where children under 16 were present.
Han Ngoc Nguyen, 35, 29 North Superior Avenue, Warsaw, faces charges of domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, Warsaw police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an undisclosed residence.
Police spoke with the victim. The victim said he had been battered by Nguyen. The victim claimed Nguyen was mentally disturbed, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The victim said he was recording Nguyen on his cell phone prior to the dispute. He said when Nguyen realized the victim was recording her she became angry, shoved, grabbed him and began pulling on his right ear, said the affidavit.
Police spoke with a witness who claimed Nguyen threatened not only him but three children in the residence. The three children were allegedly in the residence during the incident. The witness also claimed the victim was recording Nguyen as she broke a PlayStation in the residence. She allegedly spun the victim around and hit his hands in order to get the phone, according to the witness.
After receiving her Miranda rights, Nguyen claimed she became angry at the victim for interrupting her sleep. She also claimed she tried to take the phone away from the victim, said the affidavit of probable cause.
On Feb. 8, Nguyen was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail. She was later released on her own recognizance.
A no-contact order is active for this case, according to court paperwork.
