NWS Ups Its Prediction: Up To Seven Inches By Wednesday Night
WARSAW – The National Weather Service has doubled the amount of snow that is expected to accumulate in Warsaw by the end of Wednesday, Feb. 26
NWS on Monday, Feb. 24, predicted that one to three inches of snow was expected to fall on Wednesday, but that was revised to as much as seven to eight inches.
The change, according to Lonnie Fisher, meteorologist in the northern Indiana office, is due in part because the storm has moved southeast from its earlier predicted path. Southeast Wisconsin and parts of the Chicago area are now expected to see less snow than what was earlier expected.
Across northern Indiana, rain is expected for much of Tuesday, but it will switch over to snow late Tuesday night as temperatures fall. About one to two inches is expected after midnight. The low will be around 30.
Three to seven more inches is expected Wednesday. The high will be around 30 and winds could gust up to 25 mph. The chance of snow Wednesday night will decrease. The low will be 19.
A winter storm watch has been issued from Tuesday night to Wednesday night.
Fisher said snowfall in northern Indiana will be wet and heavy.
The storm is not the result of lake effect, but areas close to Lake Michigan are expected to see some lake effect snow after the system snow passes through northern Indiana.
Seven inches of snowfall is forecast across much of northern Indiana with a little less in and south of Rochester.
In Kosciusko County, Thursday and Friday will be mostly cloudy and quiet with highs in the mid-20s.
