Haney, Ortega Honored By Crossroads League
WINONA LAKE – Another week, another set of league awards for Grace College athletes. This week, Houston Haney and Dayana Ortega were honored for the Lancers in baseball and women’s tennis.
HANEY NAMED LEAGUE’S PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Haney earned Grace’s baseball team its first award of the season.
The junior pitcher was named the Crossroads League Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance from the mound.
Haney threw nine innings and struck out 12 batters while only allowing only two runs in a 3-2 win over Judson.
Grace is currently in the middle of 8-game spring break trip in Winter Haven, Florida.
ORTEGA TAKES STAGE FOR GRACE TENNIS
Grace’s women’s tennis player Dayana Ortega was recognized Monday as the Crossroads League Player of the Week.
Ortega went 5-1 on the week in three road matches in Florida. The junior was a perfect 3-0 in singles action and teamed with Emily Mast to go 2-1 in doubles.
After wrapping up their Florida trip, the Lady Lancers will have a couple of weeks off before returning to the courts on March 21 to play Campbellsville.
