Raymond “Ray” Setlak
Raymond “Ray” Setlak, 74, of Pierceton, passed away at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born on Jan. 17, 1946, in Gary to Alexander & Stephanie Setlak.
He graduated in 1964 from Lew Wallace High School in Gary and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was married on June 20, 1970, in Gary, to Judy Ann Baros who survives.
He moved to the Pierceton/North Webster area in 1988 from Merrillville, and wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., for the past eight years. He retired in 2001 after 34 years with Farm Bureau Insurance as a claim adjuster and was then self-employed for 10 years as a private investigator.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 253, a former member of Masonic Lodge in Griffith, and Calumet Adjusters Association.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Setlak of Pierceton; a daughter, Susan Marie (Philip) Mishler, of Milford; a son, Michael Alan (Tiffani) Setlak, of New Haven; four granddaughters, Anna and Lily Setlak, of New Haven, and Alexis & Julie Mishler, of Milford; two sisters, Alberta Doege, of Crown Point, and Marguerite Duffy, of Glendale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Grace Cooper and Patricia Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Craig Streby officiating.
