SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library announced its upcoming news and events.
Darci Hannah is an up-coming author of four books. The two latest mysteries take place in Door County Wisconsin. Hannah have captured some good scenes from the area. The books are “Cherry Pies and Deadly Lies” and “Cherry Scones and Broken Bones.” There will be some cherry desserts offered at the salad luncheon. Limited ticket sales are available at the Syracuse Library up to a couple of days before the event at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30, said a news release from the Syracuse Public Library.
Food from Fiction book club is exploring the Italian food of Tuscany at the March meeting at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 12. Elisabetta Flumeri and Gabriella Giacomettiare prolific screenwriters and well-known authors in Italy. “Margherita’s Notebook,” the month’s selection, is one of their few works that have been translated into English. The April book selection is “Cherry Pies and Deadly Lies” There are plenty of copies already available for checkout.
Chautauqua Wawasee is joining the Syracuse Library in the meeting room to share opinions and views of Douglas Preston’s book, “The Lost City of the Monkey God.” The National Geographic explorer tells about finding an ancient city in the jungle of Honduras and the harrowing experience after their return. An open discussion will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20.
- The last Scrabble Sunday is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15. This is a fun opportunity to revisit the game or give it a try.
- Craft nights with Shelly are back. Sign-up to make–and–take a box with a lid at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.
- The McGee’s decluttering support group for ideas and strategic plans meets for discussion at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.
- Learn and ask questions about the ABCD’s of Medicare at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 11. The next week get Social Security questions answered, said the news release.
- The Workshop writer’s group is bringing inspiration from open mic night back to the table at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14.
- Storytimes, the fun times with stories, music, movements and activities meets at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays.
- Tot times is more the same but for babies and toddlers at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.
- After-school fun meets at 4 p.m. on Thursdays with different games and activities each week.
- Homeschoolers are visiting Brazil for food, culture, and history on Fridays in March. Hot drinks are provided for moms to relax and visit while preschoolers enjoy some stories and songs
- .Older teens have Dungeons and Dragons game times at 4 p.m. Monday, March 16 and every Friday starting at 2 p.m. Video gaming night is after school at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 19.
