Wayne Grube — UPDATED
Wayne Grube, 67, Rochester, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Health Park Medical Center, Fort Myers, Fla.
On May 19, 1952, Max Wayne Grube was born in Rochester. He was the second of four sons of Max A. and Stella M. Patton Grube. Growing up, he shared his childhood with Morgan and Mark. In 1971, he graduated from Rochester High School. As a Zebra, on the grid iron he was a stellar football player, playing both offense and on the defensive teams. As a man of the mats, he wrestled at heavy weight. He passed on knowledge and passion of wrestling as assistant coach for RHS for 15 years.
On Valentine’s Day in 1986, he and Diann Manns were married in Rochester. They have shared 34 years of life’s adventures. From their blended family came three beautiful children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one expected to arrive in August.
Known for his good looks and charm, he always had the right tool in his garage that anyone needed. He loved ice cream, his toys, Corvettes, motorcycles, toy hauler, watching Fox News and cheering for the Chicago Bears and Purdue. He and Diann loved wintering in Fort Myers while entertaining friends and family watching sunsets and going out to Daddy Dee’s for ice cream.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his wife: Diann; a daughter: Tisha (Jim) Fry, Rochester; two sons: Chad Morgan (Joanna), Jason (Kelly) Grube, both of Rochester; 10 grandchildren: Jacob Fry, Corinne (Josh) Hines, Haley Fry (Greg), Bailey Quick, Makenna Morgan (Spencer), Brady Morgan, Reece Johnson, Max Grube, Myles Grube, Eddi Grube; two great-grandchildren: Asher James Hines, Stella Noelle Hines and Peanut Hines, expected to arrive in August; two brothers: Morgan Grube (Betty), Kewanna; Mark (Diana) Grube, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother-in-law: Dewayne (Carolyn) Manns, Yantis, Tex.; a sister-in-law: Dee (Joe) Dague, Akron; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews; Crystal Lake family and friends of Fort Myers, Fla.; and best friends Rick Figlio and Larry Harrison.
Preceding Wayne in death are his parents: Max and Stella Grube; a brother: Monty; a brother-in-law: Dewight Manns; and his canine companion: Euchre.
A celebration of the life of Wayne Grube, complete with an ice cream social, will be held at a date to be announced following the national pandemic. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
