Wawasee Superintendent Says Thank You To Teachers
Press Release
SYRACUSE — Dr. Tom Edington, superintendent of the Wawasee Community School Corporation, released the following letter Tuesday, May 5:
“To the Wawasee school community:
“Imagine that you have to help prepare dinner today using just your microwave? It might work great on some food items, but not so well with others!
“Our Wawasee teachers have moved from a whole classroom and school full of technology and materials to teach children from a small computer on their dining room table – and with very little warning. I am so proud of the growth that students have made through the efforts of our dedicated teachers and you. The partnership works when we all pull together.
“It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. I can’t think of a better time to say ‘Thank You’ to the teachers. They didn’t sign up for this kind of school year, just like the rest of us. Teachers continue to reach out to guiding and assisting student learning. It’s difficult when it’s not happening in person.
“Like a whole meal from a microwave, the results are not always perfect. We look forward to the day when we can be together – student and teacher – making sure the learning is happening ‘just right.’
“Best wishes to each Wawasee teacher during this special, and different, school year.”
