SYRACUSE – In reaction to Indiana governor Eric Holcomb’s optimistic re-opening of the state in the coming weeks, the Wawasee Community Summer League is moving ahead with its plans to forge forward with a summer ball season.
WCSL has not ironed out exact dates, but league president Jamie Beer noted the open registrations will continue through this Sunday, May 10, with the final openings available until 11:59 p.m. The league will not accept applications for players after midnight heading into Monday the 11th. Beer offered the league likely will start sometime in June, but the dates are still to be determined.
Sign-ups for the Wawasee Community Summer League include baseball, softball, 14U, T-Ball and machine pitch and can be done by visiting the league’s web site, Facebook, or email Beer.
The league is also campaigning for an equipment donation program for those in need of gently used equipment. The league is coordinating a date and location for a window of the next 7-10 days. Any questions on the equipment donation can be directed to Beer.
Beer also noted that the league is setting up a scholarship program, both full and partial, to assist families who are in need of financial help but would still like to have their kids participate in the league this summer. Those interested in this offer may also contact Beer.
