NOBLESVILLE – A trio of NorthWood golfers had quality showings at the Howard Bailey Junior Golf Tour stop at Harbour Trees Golf Club.
The two-day event had NorthWood junior Cybil Stillson share runner-up honors after a pair of 75s on the par-71 course. Stillson, by her own lofty standards, had a tough front side with four bogeys, but played the back even, countering a birdie on 11 with just one bogey the rest of the way to finish with a 36 on the back side.
Stillson’s two-day score of 150 tied Evansville’s Mallory Russell for runner-ups in the tourney, only chasing Nathaly Munnicha of Columbus, who led wire to wire after a 74 on day two stacked on her 72 in round one for a 146.
NorthWood junior Breanna Goss also had a nice tournament, finishing 21st overall. After an 82 in round one, Goss was about as consistent with an 83 to finish at 165. Northridge graduate Braedyn O’Dell moved up two spots on the leaderboard after her Thursday round of 81 to finish tied for 19th overall.
NorthWood graduate at Taylor University-bound Kirsten Schrock bettered her 89 on Wednesday with an 87 on Thursday for a 176 total and 38th on the leaderboard.
Area Pair Land In Top 25
Two golfers from northern Indiana placed in the top 25 of the Indiana Class of 2020 Senior Open.
The event, sponsored by the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association, gave 120 Indiana high school senior boys golfers the chance to compete one last time as a high school collective.
Peru’s Corbin Robinson landed 20th overall in the two-day event played at the Legends of Indiana course. Robinson shot a 79 in his second round to finish with a two-day total of 155.
The other area golfer, Penn’s Bazil Fury, carded an 80 in his second round to score 159 and land in a tie for 23rd overall.
The tournament was won by Tyler Nickol of Avon. Nickol, who was the only golfer to shoot below par on day one at three-under, was even on Thursday to finish at 141. He was two shots clear of Tipton’s Griffin Hare, who rallied with a 70 on Thursday to finish second at 143.
