MILFORD — A Facebook fundraiser has been established for a newborn baby and his family.
Bobby Khal Tway was born on Tuesday, June 16, to Christina and Mark Tway, Milford. He has an older sister named Khaleesi, 4.
Bobby had to be delivered at 35 weeks due to the collection of fluid around his heart and lungs. His parents found out about his condition 34 weeks into the pregnancy. At first, Bobby’s parents were told to prepare for the worst. Now, Bobby is in serious condition but is stable.
Bobby and his family are currently three hours away from home since Bobby had to be delivered at a tertiary hospital.
According to Bobby’s parents, the fluid is slowly diminishing from his lungs but still has a lot of steps and a long way to go. He has hydrops as well as a possible compromised lymphatic system.
The Facebook fundraiser was established by Amanda Perkins, one of Christina’s close friends. As of this story’s writing, the fundraiser has received more than $2,500 in donations.
“This fundraiser is something I am extremely proud of and it warms my heart so much to see all the amazing, caring people who have donated, invited, shared and prayed for the family,” said Perkins. “I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude and so thankful for all of the help and support I’ve had in this. And I’m overjoyed that we as a community could take some of this burden off of them so they can focus on what’s important.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to Bobby’s family to ensure they have necessary accommodations to stay with him while he receives treatment. The money collected will also go toward paying the Tway family’s rent to ensure they have a home to go back to when Bobby is able to be released from the hospital.
