‘Back to School’ Bash Celebrated in Syracuse

SYRACUSE — It was all about “Back to School,” as everyone attending the bash shopped and walked the block in uptown Syracuse today Friday, July 31.
There was plenty of activities during the event. Sawyer’s Country Edge hosted a frog jumping contest and the contest followed at 5:30 p.m. Frogs were provided or participants brought their own.
Bowen Center had a radio control car for kids to use and free popcorn and a free kids T-shirts were given out by REMAX Partners.
Syracuse Public Library joined the fun with games and light snacks. The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce had a hopscotch contest and the Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee handed out bike safety information.
Uptown businesses got involved in the action, too. A Touch of Beauty did free barber cuts and free basic brow and face cleanups; Revolving Closet and the Revolving Closet Continued have extended hours; CedarStone Children’s Bookstore had book sales; Babes & Combs did haircuts; Bass Audiology served strawberry shortcake and bottled water, while Health Elite sold smoothie popsicles.
Community-wide garage sales are taking place all over Syracuse this weekend. In all, 32 residences are having garage sales. A listing of all garage sales is in this week’s ‘the PAPER’ and The Mail-Journal or visit www.syracusein.org. Another Last Friday event will be held Aug. 28.
