Warriors Race Past Squires, Storm
Staff Report
NORTH MANCHESTER – Wawasee took on Manchester in girls golf, but both teams were really taking on time.
As the golf teams hustled out nine holes, the thunderstorm bore down on Sycamore Golf Course. A final score of 201-240 in favor of Wawasee had the Lady Warriors claim its first dual win of the season.
Individual results for Wawasee were not provided. For Manchester, Kayla Hippensteel shot a 56 to lead the team, with Delani Henderson one shot back and Alex Gearhart three shots back of Hippensteel. Emma Ulrey had the fourth score for the Squires with a 68.
“Thankfully we got this one in before the storms hit tonight,” stated Manchester head coach Josh Troyer. “Wawasee is always a great opponent and they performed well tonight. We made some strides lowering our nine-hole score by 10 from last Thursday. The girls are continuing to work on their swings and are showing growth in spurts. Looking forward to competing again tomorrow.”
Wawasee (1-1) is set to compete again Wednesday on the road against Churubusco and West Noble. Manchester (0-1) takes on Columbia City Tuesday afternoon.
