Bethany Christian Girls 4, Lakeland Christian Academy 0
Bethany Christian started off the game fast scoring in the first five minutes of the game. The host Bruins played a very sound scheme maintaining possession for most of the half. LCA wasn’t able to muster much off their counter as Bethany’s defense stopped any promising attack. Bethany would score again later in the half and took a 2-0 lead into the break.
The second half played much like the first. The Bruins were able to maintain the possession and added a third goal in the first 10 minutes on a breakaway. As the game wore on, LCA seemed to start to run out of gas. Bethany was awarded a penalty kick after a hand ball was called against the Cougars in the penalty box. They converted the attempt, accounting for the final tally of the match.
“We got beat by a really good team tonight and there is no shame in that,” said LCA coach Nat Raber. ” We played hard and got a feel for what we want to become. I saw some things I liked and look forward to getting on the practice field to fix a few areas.”
LCA is 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Cougars’ next game is Friday on their home pitch against the Bobcats of Oregon Davis.
Manchester Girls 3, Wawasee 0
Manchester bested their guests from Wawasee on Tuesday evening, 3-0. Manchester’s defensive line of Alexa Donathan, Torina Runkel, Kayla Metzger and Ella Clifford set the tone early and were able to hold off the Warriors throughout the night. Kindra Stetzel has five saves in goal in the shut out. Emma Garriott was able to break away three times and scored the hat trick for the Lady Squires, one of which was assisted by Beletu Stout.
Lainey Shock, Erica Ortiz and Beletu Stout did a great job controlling the field and possessing the ball while Kailea Kerr and Micaela Luevano were able to break away and get some solid shots on goal for the hosts.
The loss drops the Lady Warriors to 0-2-2.
