Juanita Meadows-Music
Juanita Meadows-Music, 84, North Manchester, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Sept. 1, 2020. Born Dec. 30, 1935, she was one of eleven children born to Alfred and Alice (England) Prater in Prestonsburg, Ky. Along with her family, Juanita moved to the Claypool area in 1950.
On June 28, 1957, Juanita married William B. Meadows. The two were wed for two weeks shy of twenty-five years before William passed away on June 13, 1982. During their union together, they had two sons. Juanita worked at Heckman Bindery for many years as a laborer to support her family.
During her time on earth, Juanita experienced heartbreak more than most. She lost her husband at the age of forty-seven and both her sons during her lifetime. Despite these tragedies, Juanita remained a sweet, kind, opinionated woman who was passionate and particular, especially when it came to her yard and flowers. Her grandchildren and family gave her the strength to keep going. She loved her grandchildren deeply and enjoyed talking and visiting with people. When Juanita had time to herself, she enjoyed working on puzzles.
The loving memory of Juanita Meadows-Music will be forever cherished by her brothers, Ralph Prater, North Manchester; and Bruce (Anita) Prater, North Liberty; sisters, Flossie (Harvey) Anderson, Warsaw; and Aileen (David) Lauster, Atwood; sisters-in-law, Beth Prater, Pierceton; and Kathy Prater, Mentone; many nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Tommy Meadows, who passed away Jan. 18, 1983 and James Meadows, who passed away Sept. 2, 2019; four brothers, Jerry, Lonnie, Bobby, and Willard Prater; and one sister, Flora Jean Himes.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Juanita Meadows-Music’s life at a graveside service Saturday, Sept.5, at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Myrtle Glen Drive, Silver Lake. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.
For those who wish to honor the life of Juanita Meadows-Music, memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, 513 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902.
