Sometimes, every stroke counts. That was the case on Thursday as the Lady Warriors eked out a victory by a mere two strokes on their home course at Maxwelton.
Taylor Cripe led Wawasee with a great round of 40. Teammate Rylee Firestone finished the nine holes at 49 with Tate Cowan completing her round with a very uncharacteristic 50. Ayla Torres carded the Warriors fourth score, adding 54 strokes to the tally, which proved to be just enough to help secure the non-conference win.
The Warriors upped their overall record to 10-5. They next compete in the NLC Championships this Saturday at South Shore Golf Course in Syracuse, which announced this week that it will cease to exist after Sept. 30, after 91 years in business.
Maconaquah 172, Tippecanoe Valley 201, North Miami 237
The Lady Vikings split their matches in a TRC three-way contest played at the Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek in Rochester. The Vikings were led by Kaydene Mellott with a 47, followed by Madelyn Weaver’s 49 and Lily Ault’s 50. Cheney Canada fired a 55 to round out the Tippecanoe Valley team scorecard.
The Vikings will compete Saturday morning in the TRC conference tournament to be contested at Maple Grove Golf Course in Huntington.
