Pike Lumber Co. To Build New Akron Office

Akron — Pike Lumber Co. will have a new corporate office next year.
The company recently announced it’s starting construction of a 22,000-square-foot office at its northern Indiana corporate headquarters in Akron. The present offices, built in 1937, have served four generations of Pike Lumber workers. The new facility, located at the east edge of Akron along State Road 114, will be built by local craftsmen and will feature interior furnishings and finishes exhibiting a full display of the company’s Pike Brand premium quality hardwoods.
“This is part of our 25-year plan of improving and modernizing to help future generations operate as efficiently as possible,” said Board Chairman John Brown The groundwork has been laid for the next generation of saw millers.”
The project will use energy-efficient products such as structural insulated panels (SIPS) wall and roof panels and LED lighting. Interior finishes of flooring, doors, paneling, stairs and trim will be from locally grown, sustainable hardwoods from Pike Lumber Co.’s product line.
Completion of the new facility is scheduled for the fall of 2021.
