Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:56 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, West US 30, near South SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Emerson C. Butts, 31, North CR 175E 156, Warsaw; Mason J. Metzinger, 22, Deerfield Path, Warsaw; and Maranda L. Taylor, 42, South Sycamore Street, Monterey. Butts was traveling west on US 30 when, for an unknown reason, he collided with Metzinger and Taylor’s vehicles. Butts was unconscious at the scene wand was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne for treatment. Metzinger complained of back pain and was taken to Parkview Hospital. Taylor complained of pain to her knee, lower leg and foot area; she was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Damage up to $50,000.
- 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, West Market Street, west of North 10th Street, Pierceton. Drivers: Matthew A. Workman, 41, North Main Street, Columbia City; and David E. Byall, 59, South Elaine Drive, Warsaw. Workman was attempting to make a U-turn from a private drive when his vehicle entered the path of Byall’s vehicle. Workman had to be extricated from his vehicle by fire personnel. Workman complained of hip and upper leg pain and was taken to a hospital. Two passengers in Workman’s vehicle, Melissa Workman, 38, Columbia City; and Samuel Leitch, 2, Columbia City, were both taken to a hospital for general body pain. Damage up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 1:24 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2621 E. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: unknown. An unnamed driver said his vehicle was parked when the brakes failed, causing his vehicle to hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 12:56 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2251 Dubois Drive, Warsaw. Driver: unknown. Nancy C. Dirck said her vehicle was parked when it sustained damage. The driver that caused the damage left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
