WARSAW — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to begin construction on Hickory Street on Monday, Sept. 28.

The street will be closed through Nov. 14 or upon project completion.  

There will be no parking on Hickory Street between Main and Market streets during this full closure of the road. Residents should use other nearby on-street parking during the construction period.

Trash and recycling pickup for Hickory Street residents will be affected during this time. Trash and recycling bins should be moved to the north/south alley directly behind or east of each residence. Residents who currently place bins on Main or Center streets can continue to do so.

This project will convert Hickory Street into a one-way street, with traffic flowing north and south from Center Street. Safety medians, curbing, parking changes and additional safety signage and signals will also be added to improve safety when a train is approaching the area.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and exercise patience while driving in the area to keep construction crews safe.
