BOURBON – Triton head coach Derek Eveland had said all along that his team just needed to take care of business.
Mission accomplished.
Triton, clearly the cream of a rather weak crop of sectional volleyball opponents, crushed West Central 25-8, 25-9, 25-16 to claim the Class 1-A sectional trophy at the Triton Volleyball Sectional Saturday night.
Triton, the only team with a winning record in the bracket, made due with its weapons in pounding Central. In conjunction with a three-set whipping of Argos in the semi-final round, saw a host of players making contributions on Saturday.
In the two games, Emma Hepler sent up 62 assists, to which Lexia Hostrawser led the attack with 24 kills. Addyson Viers chimed in with 21 kills, Abbey Viers had 16 kills and Taren Yates drilled seven winners. Yates, Madeline Doll and Addyson Viers all had four aces and Yates added seven digs. Molly McFarland had 15 digs and Hostrawser recorded three blocks.
Triton (24-10) will see a significant uptick in competition when it will face Kouts (23-5) in the first game of the Culver Regional next Saturday, a 10:30 a.m. start. Pioneer (26-3) and Lakewood Park (13-10) take on each other in game two.
