News Release
KEWANNA — Gary L. Bowers, 56, Macy, died from his injuries in a one-vehicle crash near Kewanna Tuesday evening, Nov. 3.
At approximately 8:53 p.m. a Fulton County Sheriff Deputy was traveling west on SR 114, near CR 450W when he observed what appeared to be tire marks and debris from a possible accident. He discovered a red 2005 Pontiac, driven by Bowers had left the roadway on the south side of the road for an unknown reason.
During the investigation, it appeared Bowers had overcorrected the vehicle that then went off the roadway on the north side of the road. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest in a field.
Bowers was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire department personnel. He was flown from the scene by helicopter but later died from his injuries.
The accident is still under investigation, but it is believed a high rate of speed was a contributing factor.
Assisting at the scene were Lutheran EMS, Liberty Township, Wayne Township and Macy-Allen Township fire departments and Samaritan Helicopter.
