John Helmuth
John J. Helmuth, 89, Nappanee, passed away at 3 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at his residence after a two-week short illness.
He was born March 25, 1931, in Marshall County, to Henry H. and Lydia Ann (Hochstetler) Helmuth.
On Jan. 20, 1955, he married Cora Knepp in Shipshewana. John was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He was a lifetime area resident.
Surviving are his wife, Cora Helmuth, Nappanee; children, Ivan Ray (Katie Beachy) Helmuth, Middlebury, Jerry Wayne (Alma Kuhns) Helmuth, Nappanee, Martha Sue (Robert) Miller, Nappanee, Henry Allen (Edna Miller) Helmuth, Nappanee, Katie Marie (Paul) Kuhns, Bremen, Melvin J. (Rachel Hochstetler) Helmuth, Nappanee; 43 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; brother, Lester (Esther Hochstetler) Helmuth; sisters-in-law, Inez Helmuth, Lavina Helmuth, Mary Helmuth. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Hannah Helmuth; great-grandchildren, Hannah Kauffman, Heidi Kauffman; parents; brothers, Leroy, Oscar, Andy, Elmer, Victor, James, and Mahlon Helmuth; sisters, Katie Yoder, Clara Yoder, and Martha Helmuth.
Family and friends may call after 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, all day Sunday, Nov.15, at the family home (276 Beech Rd., Nappanee). Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16, also at the family home. Bishop James Borkholder and the Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
