MILFORD — The body of former Milford Town Marshal Richard F. Miotto traveled through the town he formerly protected on Monday afternoon. Miotto died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the age of 69.
Following a funeral service in Warsaw, a procession of police and civilian vehicles traveled north into Milford. Upon their arrival into town, the vehicles passed beneath the crossed ladders of trucks from Pierceton and Winona Lake fire departments, situated at the intersection of Main and Emeline streets. The original plan of draping an oversized American flag from the ladders had to be nixed because of high winds.
The hearse carrying Miotto’ body stopped in front of Milford Town Hall, which houses the police department, so that Chief Miotto could receive his 10-42 final call, which was broadcast across all emergency channels in Kosciusko County.
Following the ceremony in Milford the procession returned to Warsaw to Oakwood Cemetery where Miotto’s body was laid to rest with full military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. Post # 1126.
