WARSAW — A Silver Lake man is facing a criminal recklessness charge after a gun he was using allegedly discharged into a business.
Jordan R. Bunch, 25, 108 N. Jefferson St., Silver Lake, is facing a charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on Nov. 18, a Silver Lake police officer received a report of a fight at a house. He came into contact with a woman, who said she made the call to police.
He also saw Bunch. The woman, who’s a relative of Bunch, said they had been arguing and another man at the scene came to help. The man had called the woman while she was working to say he had been talking with Bunch earlier and heard a gunshot. Bunch hadn’t said anything else to the man after the shot was fired.
The woman came to the house and found that Bunch had shot into the garage and that there was a hole in one of the garage’s walls. She took his gun from him and put it in her car’s trunk.
The woman said Bunch asked the gun be given back to him and he tore a door off its hinges. She said Bunch had been drinking and was upset because he and his girlfriend had split up.
Bunch told the officer his gun accidentally discharged in the garage when he tripped and dropped it. He said he had been drinking.
Upon investigation, the officer saw the bullet had gone through the garage wall, crossed the Silver Inn’s parking lot and went into the building through the stockroom wall. The Inn had people inside when the incident occurred.
