Ohio Wildlife Officer Shot While Investigating Deer Poaching
COLUMBUS, Ohio— An Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) officer was shot Sunday afternoon while investigating a deer poaching complaint, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office confirms.
Wildlife Officer Kevin Behr, a 25-year veteran of the division, was shot during the incident in the area of Macedonia Road and Martinsville Road some time before 4 p.m.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office described the injury as serious yet non-life-threatening. Behr was hospitalized in stable condition as of Sunday night.
Deputies along with other ODNR officers and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the area. Three suspects were arrested.
Brian Liming, 49, of Xenia, Ohio, was charged with Weapons Under Disability, No Deer Permit, and Hunting Without Permission.
Thomas Davis, 35, of Jamestown, Ohio, was charged with Aiding an Offender.
Brian Achtermen, 36, of Midland, Ohio, was charged with No Hunting License and No Deer Permit.
Deputies will present the results of their investigation to the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office to determine additional charges, the sheriff’s office said.
