WARSAW — A Silver Lake man will serve 10 years in prison after a NET43 drug bust resulted in the discovery of more than a pound of meth.
Cory Richard Krider, 28, 6560 W. McClure Drive, Silver Lake, was charged with dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony. An additional methamphetamine dealing charge and a meth possession charge were both dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
A second methamphetamine dealing case was also dismissed as part of Krider’s plea agreement.
Krider was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Dec. 21.
In August 2019, NET43 officers made a controlled purchase of one ounce of methamphetamine from Krider in Silver Lake. Following the transaction, a traffic stop was made on Krider’s vehicle. The traffic stop resulted in the discovery of an additional ounce of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, an interview with Krider led NET43 officers to an additional 1.25 pounds of methamphetamine, with an approximate street value of $42,000.
During court proceedings, Defense Attorney Elden Stoops focused on Krider’s family support and Krider’s cooperation with police.
“I’m going to take my sobriety seriously,” said Krider.
For dealing in methamphetamine, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Krider to 15 years in prison, with the last five years of the sentence suspended on probation. Krider has 406 days of jail time credit in the case.
Reed also recommended Krider complete a substance abuse treatment program during his incarceration. The sentence in this case will be served consecutively to a Marshall County case involving narcotic drug possession.
