Warsaw Doubles Up Eagles
Warsaw held form at home Tuesday against sectional rival Columbia City, taking a pair of team wins.
Warsaw Girls 112, Columbia City 64
The Lady Tigers took home seven top finishes, a pair of relays and five different individual efforts. The Warsaw free relays both finished first (200 – 1:48.61 and 400 – 4:08.63) and the team added a pair of distance firsts with Marissa Howett taking the 200 free (2:08.14) and Gracie Willig the 500 free (5:49.74).
Maddy Morgan took honors in the butterfly (1:07.62) and Rachel Doyle added a win in the backstroke (1:08.30). Kaley Rodriguez opened the day unopposed in diving (104.20).
Caroline Klimek led the Eagles with a hand in three wins, including the 50 free (26.73) and 100 free (58.48).
Warsaw Boys 108, Columbia City 75
Warsaw went deeper in the boys table, taking 10 of 12 top performances. Ian Wihebrink, Michael Ray and Nate Taylor did much of the heavy lifting, taking two events each. Wihebrink won the 200 free (1:58.08) and breaststroke (1:02.44), Ray the 50 (22.18) and 100 free (49.22), and Taylor the fly (57.24) and 500 free (5:29.38).
Cooper Archer added a backstroke win (1:03.75) and Jayce Sawyer led the diving crew with a 187.60.
The medley relay (1:44.11) and 200 free relay (1:35.67) both added eight points each in the Warsaw win columns.
City’s Sam Varga edged Archer by five-one hundredths to take the IM at 2:10.53.
