WARSAW – Brielle Fehlmann wasn’t the most visible player on the pitch for the Warsaw girls soccer program, but she was noticed. Fehlmann was recruited and eventually decided upon Huntington University to continue her soccer and academic career.
Fehlmann wasn’t asked to be the star in a program that has been well stocked with stars. But her play in the midfield was critical even without the points. Case in point, Fehlmann tallied just two assists as a senior, both coming in a 3-2 win over Plymouth, but served as one of the team captains. As one of the team leaders, Warsaw wrapped up its first 7-0 Northern Lakes Conference campaign and outright title in nearly two decades.
Fehlmann played in 14 of the team’s 18 matches for coach Jon Hoover.
“Brielle Fehlmann’s hard work made her into a very good player for the Tigers,” Hoover said. “She became a key part of a group of center midfielders that our style of play relies on for success. I’m thrilled to have her join another Crossroads League team in Huntington where she can thrive both on and off the field.”
Fehlmann is a four-year letter winner in soccer and two-year track letter winner.
Fehlmann was solid in the classroom, earning Academic All-State honors for the second straight year (2019-20) and carries a 4.26 GPA, looking to major in biology (pre-med). Fehlmann is part of the National Honor Society, Tiger Leadership Council and Octagon Club, serving as secretary of the Octagon Club her junior and senior years.
Huntington, coached by David Lewis, went 2-10-1 this past fall.
“I chose Huntington University because I really love the atmosphere of the campus, as well as the opportunities provided to grow academically, athletically and spiritually,” Fehlmann said. “I am also incredibly excited and grateful to be playing under coach David Lewis, and look forward to what the next four years will hold.”
