WARSAW — Kosciusko County’s Solid Waste Management District will begin taking paint and paint-related items for collection beginning on Feb. 2.
This was announced during the district’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Latex-based paint, oil-based paint, spray paint, stains, varnishes, and clear coat or water sealant will be accepted at that time. Drop-off for residents and businesses will continue to be by appointment only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Appointments can be made online.
Pricing is 20 cents per pound for latex-based paint and 45 cents per pound for oil-based.
The board also proposed several projects for the new year, including clean-up at the district’s Syracuse site. Kosciusko County Recycling Depot Director Tom Ganser said there is a wooded lot near the site. He said the district has had several groups go back and clean the area due to blowing debris.
“I’d like to take some of the wooded brush in the back of that lot and get it cleaned up, get a fence up there, so we can control some of the debris without having to go through briars to get stuff,” said Ganser.
Ganser also mentioned the possibility of setting up remote cameras at the Syracuse site.
The board’s next meeting is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16.
