Ernie Coffel
Ernie Coffel, 73, Bremen, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at 10:53 a.m. at St Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Ernie was born on Aug. 24, 1947, to James and Beulah (Nettrouer) Coffel. He grew up on a mint farm and lived at the Lake of the Woods for 63 years.
He was a hard worker and proud to work at Bremen Castings for 45 years and retired in 2010. Ernie never married or had children but had many nieces and nephews he loved like his own.
Ernie was an avid Bremen Football fan and would attend many games, rain or shine, standing at the fence cheering them on. You could also find him on the dance floor as he loved to dance and listen to music. He also loved watching IU sports, sitting outside and helping out anyone he could.
Ernie was a very giving person that loved to spend time with family and was known and loved by many in the community. Ernie is survived by his sister, Patsy (Jim) Leatherman, Plymouth; and brothers Donald Coffel, Warsaw, and Larry (Vicky) Coffel, Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Herman Coffel. Ernie’s family is comforted in knowing he is in the arms of his Savior.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb.19, at 2 p.m. in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8604 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
