Marcia J. Oxley
Marcia J. Oxley, Sun City, Ariz., passed away Feb. 17, 2021, at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Surviving is her husband Gary, daughters Shari Miller, Shana Purves, and son Kevin Oxley. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Shari’s daughter and son Ashley and Tanner; Shana’s children Mackenzie, Blake, and Kendall; as well as Kevin’s daughters Makayla and Matilyn Jayde. She also had three great grandchildren: Ashley’s daughters Zoey, Kynli, and Lennon. Her sister Norene (Kirby) Stolte, as well as several nieces and nephews also remain.
Her parents preceded her in death. Marcia was quite passionate about her love for Jesus Christ, her marriage, and her children.
Marcia was born April 17, 1948, in Bremen, to Velorus (Hangy) D. and Lois I. (Drilling) Stouder. She grew up in Etna Green, where she was an active member of the Church of Christ. She attended elementary and middle school in Etna Green and graduated from Triton High School, Bourbon, with the class of 1966.
In the fall of 1966, Marcia met her husband to be Gary Oxley at a dance at the Wawasee Ski Lodge. It was love at first sight and they married on April 29, 1967. In June of ’67 Gary was drafted and spent two years proudly serving his country, including a year in Viet Nam while his bride supported him at home.
Marcia and Gary spent 54 years together traveling, golfing, and exploring almost 80,000 miles on their Harley. With several good friends they explored the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Their 50th Wedding Anniversary was celebrated on an Alaskan Cruise. Fulfilling a dream of Marcia’s, their last trip was to Graceland. Anyone who knew her knew she was a dedicated Elvis Fan.
Marcia also travelled annually for 15 years with the Tatas. Five girls who were not only related, but incredibly good friends: her sister Norene, aunt Gloria Stackhouse, and cousins Darcy McDaniel and LuCinda Julian.
When Marcia did something, it was with 100% dedication. She was employed by Orthopedic Equipment Company in Bourbon, OEC Medical Systems, and Zimmer USA in Warsaw and Phoenix. She retired as a Product Specialist from Zimmer in 2000.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at the Etna Green Church of Christ at a later date.
