Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 12:14 p.m. Saturday, March 13, South SR 13 and East US 30, Pierceton. Drivers: Melissa Robinson, 50, East Stillwater Landing, Urbana, Ill., and Linda L. Slone, 58, East Center Street, Sidney. Robinson was traveling northbound on SR 13 and hit the back of Slone’s vehicle, which was northbound on SR 13 sitting at the stoplight at the intersection of US 30, with her vehicle. Damage: Up to $50,000.
- 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 12, East CR 650N and North CR 600E, Leesburg. Driver: Jerrold P. Blocher, 38, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Blocher was traveling westbound on CR 650N, Leesburg, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 8:33 a.m. Friday, March 12, 11911 N. Fuzzy Bear Road, Cromwell. Driver: Abby R. Miller, 37, CR 21, Milford. Miller was driving a Wawasee Community Schools bus. She backed the bus into the driveway of 11911 N. Fuzzy Bear Road, Cromwell, in an effort to turn it around. While pulling it back out of the driveway, she turned the steering wheel too quickly and hit another vehicle with the bus. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 8:16 a.m. Friday, March 12, East CR 450N east of North CR 250E, Warsaw. Driver: Kenneth W. Strong, 48, Kimal Drive, Warsaw. Strong was westbound on East CR 450N, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a dog. Damage: Up to $5,000.
Mentone
Officers with the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 10:10 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 206 E. Main St., Mentone. Driver: Nicholas A. Mavis, 32, Lewis Avenue, Temperance, Mich. Mavis was delivering items to Ace Hardware. As he was backing into the downhill drive, his vehicle hit a deck support post. His vehicle also hit a parked vehicle as he was backing it up in front of the store. Damage: Up to $10,000.
Milford
Officers with the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 11:54 p.m. Friday, March 12, SR 15 north of SR 15/West CR 1350N, Milford. Driver: Heather N. Halvorsen, 37, Washington, Vandalia, Mo. Halvorsen was traveling northbound when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 2:13 p.m. Friday, March 12, Prairie Drive east of North Parkview Avenue, Syracuse. Drivers: Mara L. Lumbard, 33, Prairie Drive, Syracuse, and Ronald E. Stouder, 68, Prairie Drive, Syracuse. Lumbard was backing her vehicle out of her driveway and didn’t see Stouder coming up behind her in his vehicle. Her vehicle hit Stouder’s. Damage: Up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:02 p.m. Friday, March 12, East CR 200N south of North Cessna Road, Warsaw. Driver: Jose J. Giron, 36, East CR 200N, Warsaw. Giron was traveling eastbound on East CR 200N just west of the intersection of North Cessna Road, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 12, SR 15 and Enterprise Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth A. Collison, 32, East Van Buren Street, Leesburg, and Dawn K. McDonald, 53, South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Collison was traveling eastbound on Enterprise Drive, Warsaw. She stopped at the stop sign at Enterprise Drive and SR 15. She turned her vehicle left in front of a large truck and failed to see McDonald’s vehicle, which was in the southbound left of SR 15 on the other side of the truck. Her vehicle hit McDonald’s. McDonald said her chest hurt from the impact. A passenger in her vehicle hit his head. Damage: Up to $10,000.
