CROMWELL — Turkey Creek Regional Sewer District board continues to meet briefly each month, forging ahead with local sewer projects behind masks and spaced out in the large garage bay. In just 30 minutes, the board welcomed a new member, reviewed IDEM updates, and listened to smaller project overviews Monday, March 15.
Jim Boone, board president, welcomed new board member Brad Fishburn to the group and thanked him for his willingness to join and be an asset to the team. Fishburn will be given an oath of office and review an internal controls video before becoming official. He will also be part of the insurance bond applications with the rest of the board.
Timothy Woodward, district superintendent, also provided updates for the board on some of the smaller projects around the district. Woodward noted the generators did their job during the coldest parts of winter, allowing the flow to continue without interruption or disaster. Always planning ahead for high flow events, such as July 4, Woodward has been using an “old-school” method to ensure flow is distributed between all clarifier tanks so no single tank is overused or full. “We’re actually home, we are where we need to be,” said Woodward.
His plan is to continue finding the perfect balance of solids and liquids.
Woodward also thanked his team for their attention to detail, including small repairs, large Vactor truck life station cleaning, and an amazing audit report through the State Board of Accounts.
The public is encouraged to join the board’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19. Questions for the board can be emailed to [email protected].
