Milford Man Arrested In Connection With Stolen Trailer, Motorcycles
Staff Report
MILFORD — A Milford man is charged with theft after a stolen trailer and motorcycles were allegedly found on his property.
Michael Allen Schuh Jr., 38, 205 S. West St., Milford, is charged with three counts of theft, all level 6 felonies; and false informing, a class B misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 22, 2020, a Milford Police deputy was dispatched to the area of West Street by the Milford Town Marshal to check for a black Suzuki motorcycle behind the residence since there was a dispatch for one stolen with the same description.
When the deputy arrived, he noticed a trailer with the tailgate down and three motorcycles on the trailer. A black Suzuki vehicle ID number was checked and identified as stolen out of Elkhart County.
The second motorcycle was a red/white Ducati that was identified as stolen from Allen County. The third motorcycle, a Yamaha, was not identified as stolen and is registered to a man from Indianapolis.
The license plate of the trailer was checked and identified as stolen from the Leesburg area.
The deputy made contact with Schuh, the owner of the home at 205 West St., who said he had noticed the trailer and motorcycles when he arrived home from work that morning.
A woman at the residence said there was nothing in the yard the night before, but when she got up that morning she saw the trailer and motorcycles.
The deputy then spoke with a neighbor who said the trailer and motorcycles were there the previous day. A neighbor also witnessed Schuh loading the bikes on the trailer.
A bank branch in Milford has security cameras that cover the area where the trailer and motorcycles were discovered. The video from the bank revealed Schuh loading the stolen motorcycles onto the stolen trailer at 9:08 a.m. July 22, 2020. Approximately 40 minutes later, the video shows the deputy arriving and questioning Schuh, who stated he knew nothing about the stolen property.
Schuh was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail March 18 on a $15,250 surety and cash bond.
