MILFORD — The following programs and services are offered at the Milford Public Library:
VIDEO MAGAZINES
America’s heritage is beautifully captured on the Sentimental Reflection series of DVDs available for checkout from the Milford Public Library.
The videos highlight America, as we are now and as we were in years gone by, through stories, scenic destinations and memorable music performed on unique instruments and by gifted entertainers. The video magazine offers glimpses of Americans and America with segments that both inform and entertain the viewer.
These DVDs can be found in the library’s adult department, with several to choose from and covering a variety of locations across America. You are sure to discover just how unique and special our country truly is.
LIBRARY IN-SERVICE
The Library will be closing at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, for a staff in-service. Sorry for any inconvenience.
FLOWER SEEDS
Beginning April 5, stop by the library and receive a free packet of flower seeds in celebration of Spring. You can pick up your packet at either the Adult or Children’s Circulation desks. We will limit the packets to one per day per family while supplies last. No library card is needed to receive your flower seeds.
NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK
April 4 – 10 is National Library Week. Our nation’s libraries, workers and their contributions are celebrated, at the same time, Library use and support are promoted.
“Welcome to Your Library”, is the theme for National Library Week 2021.
Libraries offer endless opportunities to transform lives through education and lifelong learning, whether people visit virtually or in person. Library workers continue to exceed their communities’ demands and adapt resources and services to meet their users’ needs during these challenging times.
First sponsored in 1958, The American Library Association (ALA) sponsors and observes National Library Week across the country each April. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
SPRING BREAK CRAFTS
Spring break is quickly approaching and we love to offer children some things they can do during their time away from normal school activities. FREE spring break craft kits available April 2-9. MPL has put together children’s craft kits containing seven spring themed crafts and various activities they can work on during spring break. Available while supplies last, pick one up at the children’s circulation desk.
ADULT READING CLUB
Our Adult Reading program ends March 31, making way for our Summer Reading Program. Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to our gift card winners. We had 50 patrons participate and with this week’s drawing, a total of 12 winners of $25.00 gift cards. It’s been a pleasure seeing all the regular and new participants checking out books and hearing about their picks. We look forward to the next adult reading club.
TAX FORMS
May 17, 2021, is the deadline for filing 2020 tax returns. Free tax forms are available to the public at the adult circulation desk. If you’d prefer to file online, we also have computers and free Wi-Fi available for public use. No library card required.
LEGO CREW
Photo submissions are being accepted for the rainbow challenge through Monday, March 29. Send a photo of your creation to [email protected] to be entered into the contest. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and will win a new Lego kit. MPL will be starting a new challenge in April, no library card needed.
