Diamond Results: March 31
Tippecanoe Valley Softball 16, South Bend Riley 6
Valley again set the tone early on the visitors in it’s second dimer of the week.
Madi Smith and Molly Moriarty both had two-run homers in the first inning as Valley jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning. Moriarty had two hits, two walks and scored four times to pace the Vikings while Smith had three hits and three runs scored. Kayleena Agnew added three RBI in the victory.
The win was far from clean for the Vikes, which saw Riley load the bases in the first but not score, then have its pitchers walk six Wildcats to go with seven hits. After Riley had cut the lead to 8-6 in the fourth, Valley (2-0) scored five in the bottom half of the inning, then tack on three in the fifth to get the dime.
Abby Bowers got the win, working into the fourth and striking out nine.
Wawasee Baseball 15, Wabash 3
Wawasee earned its second win in as many nights over a Three Rivers Conference opponent by taking out the Apaches in the Wabash County seat.
And for the second night in a row, a Brooks brother put on a solid performance on the hill. After Grant Brooks mowed down Manchester on Tuesday, Ty Brooks held the Apaches in check, working 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out three.
Grant had a night at the plate, collecting three hits and two runs driven in. Parker Young and Jacob Meek both had two runs scored and three driven in, one of Young’s hits a homer. Adam Beer added two hits and two runs scored for the Warriors (2-0).
Andrew Dillon and Justin Booth each had two hits and an RBI for Wabash.
