NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Grace’s women’s golf team competed at the Garn Championship on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament, held at Keene Trace Golf Club in Kentucky, officially began the spring season. The course was highly challenging, and the field was filled with 23 teams which slowed play significantly.
But the Lady Lancers recovered from a slow opening day on Monday, impressing during the nine countable holes on Tuesday.
Grace had three golfers shoot under 90 on the first day of the challenging course. Carolyn Pacocha carded an 85, while Rebecca Hawes (86) and Lucy Young (88) were close behind.
Grace excelled on Tuesday. The teams played nine holes with the Lady Lancers producing the best team score on the day.
Young shot a 37 for her nine holes, tied for the lowest round of the day among all golfers. She finished seventh overall with a total of 125.
Pacocha’s 40 on Tuesday tied her with Young for seventh place.
Hawes, Rachel Harvey and Abby Slabaugh all showed improvement on day two, and Abigail Fishel (99-48) also competed as an individual.
The Lady Lancers will head to Illinois on April 10-11 for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
