WARSAW – Kosciusko County has 17 townships covered by 14 fire departments within the county and one department just across the county line. Each fire department is the same, yet different and each one has its own story.

Some have newer equipment than others, some have rescue equipment others may not have or need. But there are similarities. There is a camaraderie between departments and members, they are all a family and they all have soft drinks in the refrigerators.

During the next 17 weeks, stories from each of these fire departments will be shared with readers. Readers will have the opportunity to read about the histories, their funding, equipment and the uniqueness of each department.

The series will appear each Saturday afternoon. Some will include old photos along with current photos.
