Kosciusko Reports One New COVID-19 Death

WARSAW — Kosciusko County has reported one new COVID-19 death, bringing the county’s total to 113 deaths and 9,051 positive cases. The death occurred on Thursday, April 8.
More than 13,200 people in Kosciusko County have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is up from 11,400 reported last week.
An estimated 18,857 people in Kosciusko County have been administered their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
More than 1,465,000 Hoosiers are considered to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is up from 1,291,000 reported last week.
According to statewide demographics, 62% of those fully vaccinated are individuals who are 60 and older. About 57% of people fully vaccinated are female.
Kosciusko County remains in the “yellow” category on both the two-metric and advisory level COVID-19 maps.
According to the Indiana Department of Health dashboard, the county’s positivity rate is 4.2%. This is a slight increase from a 3.9% positivity rate reported last week. Kosciusko’s weekly COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents is at 140.
Wabash County is back in the “blue” category on the two-metric map, with a 2.2% positivity rate. However, the county must continue following “yellow” guidelines.
IDH relies on a color-coded county map that measures percent positivity and new cases per 100,000 residents. The baseline for red is 15%.
The advisory level is used to establish guidelines for counties regarding restrictions on gatherings.
Under Gov. Eric Holcomb’s pandemic requirements, social gatherings of any kind in yellow counties are limited to 100 people.
Statewide, the IDH website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 12,782.
The total positive number of reported COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 701,971. More than 9,293,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered to Hoosiers.
Locally, Fulton County has 1,904 positive cases, Wabash County has 3,458 positive cases, and Whitley County has 3,749 positive cases. Noble County has 5,369 positive cases, Marshall County has 5,743 positive cases, and Elkhart County has 27,021.
In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 51,105 positive cases; Allen County has 38,867 positive cases; and St. Joseph County has 33,638 positive cases.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 563,000 people in the United States have died due to COVID-19.
